CFA111: Cardboard Transformation
You are asked to take a 20 x 32” sheet of cardboard and transform it into . . .well actually that’s just the point. Other than the single sheet of cardboard, there are no rules, guidelines, specifications, or directions, express of implied, as to how you should transform, modify, fold, spindle or mutilate the sheet. The simple purity of the assignment, “take a single of cardboard and change it”, might suggest to some that only this one material should be used. To rely on other materials – a second sheet of cardboard? Some plastic or concrete? . . . a steel I-beam thrown in here or there – would be seen as a violation of the spirit of the project to these purists. And of course it would be. However, since there are no rules it makes it a little hard to tell when someone has actually broken them.
